Voting

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 3, 2008, 7:18 AM
::Currently::

This year I decided not to vote for the lesser of two evils. Ron Paul is the best man for the job, but the best man didn't have enough money and media coverage. I've read up and decided to vote for Bob Barr the Libertarian candidate. I'm voting for who I think is best rather than who I think will win. My hope is that by doing so future 3rd party candidates will have a better chance. I could also hope that people will actually read and educate themselves before voting rather than just picking a party and blindly sticking by it.

Good for you. It would be great if more people would vote for who they think would be best not just the Democrat or Republican. There are plenty of good candidates out there that just aren't getting the media attention or the funding.

Spay and neuter your pets, I already have too much work!
Well done. I think that Amarican politics could benefit from a more robust third-party, and it seems like Libertarianism is slowly gaining ground.

I'm terrified of voting at all because this election has spiraled out of control and crossed dozens of boundaries concerning what is appropriate for any candidate to do. I want to keep my public life and my private life separate, but that seems impossible when I'm to the point that John McCain invades my dreams and Barack Obama invades my creative musings. I don't want to vote because I fear that I'll be voting solely based on what I am told rather than my own volition. My thoughts on the candidates will no longer be my own, and instead I'll be another convert too lazy to gather information.

The nice thing is that voting allows us some leverage. I think that after this election, it would behoove us to start drafting letters to Congress members asking for some better legislation on these campaigns. I don't think I can easily handle another election like this one.

Awesome! If we could get everyone that has libertarian leanings/ideals to actually vote libertarian instead of following the tired old "I don't want to waste my vote" garbage we might actually get some positive change in our government! Even if we don't get enough votes to put the libertarian candidate in office we could still influence the other two parties as they will trend toward libertarian views in order to get elected (but only if we can convince enough people to vote their conscience). I have the feeking that the next few weeks are going to be an extremely divisive time for the citizens of this country as whichever party wins there will be lawsuits and recriminations and acusations of voter fraud.

people are retarded when it comes to politics. Its a topic nobody really cares about until its time to vote. Even then alot of people hate politics and don't really do their own personal research.

People are too lazy when it comes to something they aren't interested in even though they should....it involves them in so many ways lol

It really is a crime people don't feel a responsibility to do their homework.

its even worse when they vote for the wrong reasons :/ Race, Gender, Religious orientation. The list goes on. People should take a political comprehension test a month prior to election to see if they're up to speed about everything. and if they fail, they should be allowed to vote
